About the role

This role is a Fixed Term Contract until September 2027 with the potential for extension.

As our HR Generalist Advisor, you’ll be in a diverse role where you can make a real difference and impact to those around you and the organisation as a whole. You’ll be working as part of a supportive wider team, being based at both our Town Hall office and Work Services office a short distance away.

You’ll be supporting with general casework, grievances, disciplinaries, welfare, return to work, performance management, training and development and various other HR projects and initiatives.

Your main area of responsibility and focus will be our Work Services Unit which encompasses refuse and recycling but will also support other areas of the Council when needed.

About you

You’ll be an experienced HR Advisor or Business Partner with extensive experience of HR practices and employment law with full membership of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development (CIPD), or equivalent level of knowledge gained from your work history.

You will need to have experience of working in an environment that is predominantly manual workers with some office-based staff also and be a great relationship builder, influencer and negotiator. Ideally you’ll have experience in a unionised environment, but this is not essential.

Alongside this you’ll be comfortable working autonomously and know when to escalate issues or seek advice from the wider team to make sure you get the best outcome for all involved.
