Principal People are pleased to be exclusively partnered with The University of the West of Scotland that are recruiting for an Interim Head of Risk & Resilience to join their team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Risk & Resilience. Reporting to the University Secretary, there will be significant scope for the post holder to build upon and develop the existing risk culture, while driving business continuity planning efforts. You will operate as a lead institutional representative across various multi-agency groups, be heavily involved in planning and response to major incidents affecting the University, and provide expert guidance and training to the Major Incident Team. You will have responsibility for development and further embedding of University procedures relating to risk management, major incidents & business continuity. You will be comfortable working within a complex environment supporting colleagues across the organisation, and will maintain and enhance existing well developed relationships with key external partners across the campuses including Local Resilience Partnerships, Local Authority Emergency Planning Teams and Public Health, as well as being involved in sector groups such as HEBCoN.
This is a key role in the University's ongoing response to Covid 19, working closely with senior management and external stakeholders. You will regularly be informing institutional decision making and advising a wide range of colleagues as the University addresses the changing external environment. This is will be a priority area of focus for the post holder.
You will work with colleagues across all parts of the University, and in particular strong relationships are required with the Health & Safety team, Campus Services, Schools, Strategic Planning, Finance and members of the Executive. You will have a significant role in the University Risk Group, and regularly provide reports to the Audit & Risk Committee.
You should hold a relevant degree and registration/membership of a relevant professional body such as IRM, BCI or equivalent, be able to implement risk management frameworks methodologies including ISO 31000 and have up to date knowledge of BCM best practice. This role has line management responsibility for the Senior Risk & Insurance Officer and Budget and Planning responsibilities for the function.
We are promoting agile working where individuals will work from both home and the office. When working from the office, this role will be largely based at Paisley Campus although travel to other campuses will be required as necessary.
