We are working with a fantastic, forward-thinking SEN school that is seeking a passionate person to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs in the education and training sector.

The Kempston Role - SEMH Teaching Assistant

  • Support students aged 11-16 with a range of SEMH needs, helping them thrive both emotionally and academically.
  • Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external specialists to provide holistic support.
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions aimed at building resilience, emotional regulation, and self-confidence.
  • Act as a positive role model, helping students re-engage with education in a safe, supportive setting.

Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant

  • A recent graduate in psychology or criminology (2:1 or higher preferred).
  • A genuine interest in working with vulnerable young people and an understanding of complex behavioural needs.
  • Empathetic, patient, and confident in building strong, trusting relationships.
  • Ability to commute to Kempston on a daily basis.
  • Previous experience working with young people (paid or voluntary) is beneficial but not essential.
