Overview

Our client, a leading Tier 1 Contractor, is expanding its commercial team and seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing operation in Cambridgeshire. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a thriving and collaborative commercial team delivering major, flagship educational projects valued up to £65m-£70m.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the commercial management of large-scale educational build projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Prepare, manage, and evaluate subcontract tenders, contracts, and variations.

Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.

Manage procurement processes and supply chain relationships.

Provide accurate commercial reporting to senior leadership.

Work closely with project teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.

Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Support and mentor junior commercial staff as required.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.

Background working on major build projects, ideally within the educational or public-sector space.

Strong knowledge of commercial processes, contracts (e.g., JCT), and cost management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
