SEN Teaching Assistant - Special School - Education and Training

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Essex, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs in a structured and caring environment.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive education and keen to support children who need additional help to access learning, build confidence, and develop life skills.

The role - Education and Training - SEN Teaching Assistant - Essex

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups throughout the school day in Essex
  • Assisting the class teacher with delivering tailored lessons and activities
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Helping to manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
  • Adapting learning materials to meet individual needs
  • Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and structured activities
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement in learning within education and training
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and therapists to follow individual support plans
  • Ensuring a safe, calm, and supportive classroom environment at all times

The ideal candidate - SEN Teaching Assistant - Essex

  • Has experience working with children with special educational needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Is patient, resilient, and nurturing within Essex
  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Works well as part of a team and follows guidance confidently
