The Role

Reporting to the Planning Director, you'll play a key role in the delivery of new residential developments across Cumbria and Lancashire.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planning and development appraisals for immediate and strategic sites

  • Preparing and managing a variety of planning applications (Outline, Full, Reserved Matters, and conditions discharge)

  • Liaising with colleagues, consultants, planning authorities and local communities to support applications and build strong relationships

  • Producing and reviewing planning statements, design & access statements, and other supporting documentation

  • Contributing to stakeholder engagement and public consultation events

  • Monitoring local plan progress and helping shape strategies for medium- to long-term development opportunities

About You
  • Previous experience in planning, either from the private or public sector

  • Degree or Masters in Town Planning (RTPI accredited)

  • Strong knowledge of planning policy and development management

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively

  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities

  • Full UK driving licence
