Reconciliation Specialist

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for efficiently reconciling accounts for multiple healthcare clients. The specialist will audit spreadsheets, match balances, and investigate to identify discrepancies between accounts and resolve them.


Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written), ability to work well in a diverse environment and proficient with computers, and Microsoft Office Applications Software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Extensive knowledge of inventory tracking and other methods of resolving accounts discrepancies.
  • Resolves billing or service problems by clarifying the clients dispute; determining the cause of the service problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the service problem, expediting dispute correction or adjustment, and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Audit and investigate to identify discrepancies between accounts and resolve them.
  • Research payment and dispute documentation within company and client’s billing/payment systems.
  • Provide backup documentation as justification of bill cancellations and adjustments
  • Maintains financial accounts by following up on payment promises and adjustments.
  • Extremely Reliable -- be very prompt with time and attendance.
  • On a regular basis, sets and reviews goals with the manager or lead
  • Corresponds and converses with clients and in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner
  • Communicates any problem issues to a lead or manager on an ongoing basis
  • Remain compliant with Hollis Cobb policies and procedures as well as Federal and State guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; college degree preferred
  • Preferred: Previous experience in customer service, administration or collections
  • Preferred: Previous experience auditing spreadsheets
  • Preferred: 1-2 years related experience


  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to type 40 plus WPM
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand a variety of information presented in different formats from a variety of sources
  • Ability to compute math calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand or walk and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Also may be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch or crawl; talk and hear; taste or smell.


Employee works in an office environment. Employee sits at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours; answers and makes telephone calls using a standard telephone; types on a standard keyboard; reads and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources.
