We are currently recruiting a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school. This is a long-term position offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on young people who require additional support.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who experience social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, supporting them on a 1:1 basis to help remove barriers to learning. You will assist students in regulating their behaviour, re-engaging with lessons, and developing strategies that promote positive progress.

You will be required to:

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who need additional support

Provide calm, consistent behaviour intervention and de-escalation

Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams and the school's SEMH provision

Support pupils in both mainstream and specialist SEMH settings

Encourage emotional resilience, confidence, and improved learning engagement

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be patient, resilient and confident in supporting young people with additional behavioural and emotional needs. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including support work, care, military or forces experience, sports coaching, youth work, psychology or criminology graduates, public services, mentoring roles, or any position involving behaviour management.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
