Job Title: Senior Solar Design Engineer
Location: Hybrid 2 days a week in London

As part of our ambitious growth plans, we're looking for a Senior Solar Design Engineer to join our dynamic team and lead the development of high-quality, commercially-viable solar energy projects.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Solar Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and optimisation of solar PV systems across a variety of commercial projects. You will contribute your expertise to system layout, energy modelling, safety assessments, and integration of advanced technologies such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the design and engineering of solar PV systems from concept through to construction.

* Conduct detailed electrical design including string sizing, inverter selection, and grid connection.

* Perform fire risk assessments and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and building codes.

* Collaborate with architects and building designers to ensure integration of PV systems with building plans.

* Optimise system performance and costs, balancing technical excellence with commercial viability.

* Design and assess the integration of BESS into PV systems.

* Specify and evaluate control systems and monitoring platforms to ensure performance tracking and grid compliance.

* Support project development, including feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical due diligence.

* Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, including EPCs, DNOs, consultants, and suppliers.

Desired Skills & Attributes:

* A degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.

* Proven track record in solar PV system design, preferably at the senior or lead level.

* In-depth understanding of fire risk analysis related to PV installations.

* Strong knowledge of building design principles and regulatory frameworks.

* Commercial awareness with the ability to design systems that deliver optimal value and ROI.

* Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and their integration into PV designs.

* Familiarity with control systems, SCADA, and remote monitoring platforms.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

* Proficient in relevant design software such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, or similar.
