Senior Drainage & Flood Risk Engineer

Location: Central London
Salary: £50,000-£55,000 + Annual Bonus
Working Pattern: Hybrid (2-3 office days per week)

A leading UK engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to join its growing Central London team. You will support a wide portfolio of projects, including major town centre regeneration, large-scale residential developments, commercial and mixed-use schemes, education facilities, and leisure industry projects. Work will span feasibility studies, Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and detailed design for both highway and on-plot drainage.

Key Responsibilities

Design drainage solutions (including SuDS) from concept through to detailed design

Produce Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies and technical reports

Prepare fee proposals and support project and budget management

Liaise with clients, contractors, planning authorities and other stakeholders

Support and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

Experience working within a UK consultancy on drainage and flood risk projects across the private & public sector

Competent user of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Site 3D, InfoDrainage (or similar)

Strong report writing and communication skills

Good understanding of UK drainage standards and approval processes

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Chartered or working towards Chartership (desirable)

Technical Expertise

SuDS design and modelling (ponds, swales, tanks, rain gardens, etc.)

Section 104 / 106 / 185 applications

Surface water and foul drainage for major developments

Highway drainage design

Designs in line with DMRB, Sewerage Sector Guidance, CIRIA, Building Regulations, and Local Authority standards

Supporting tender and construction phases, including response to RFIs

Desirable (Not Essential)

Highway / estate road design (S278 / S38, vehicle tracking, car parks, ground modelling, pavement design)
