About the Opportunity

A well-established regional law firm is seeking to appoint a Contentious Construction Solicitor to join its growing Birmingham office.

The firm has a strong reputation in the construction sector and advises a broad client base including developers, contractors, consultants and insurers. The Birmingham team handles a wide range of complex construction disputes and works closely with colleagues across the firm’s wider real estate and commercial practices.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-value and technically challenging disputes within a supportive and collaborative team.

The Role

You will handle a varied caseload of contentious construction matters, including:


• Adjudications, mediations and other forms of dispute resolution
• Construction and engineering disputes in the High Court and Technology and Construction Court
• Claims relating to defective works, delay and disruption, and professional negligence
• Advising on disputes arising from JCT and NEC contracts
• Supporting clients with dispute avoidance strategies and early-stage risk advice

You will also work closely with partners on complex matters and have opportunities to contribute to client development initiatives.

About You

You will be a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 5+ years’ PQE and experience in contentious construction matters.

The firm is seeking:


• Strong experience handling construction disputes
• Familiarity with adjudication and alternative dispute resolution processes
• Knowledge of standard form construction contracts such as JCT and NEC
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills
• A proactive and commercially focused approach
