Overview

This exciting and fast-growing business, based in Basingstoke, are looking for an experienced Ledger Assistant to join their finance team on a temporary basis, with a possibility of going permanent for the right candidate. This role would suit someone with purchase ledger experience and who is immediately available or available at short notice.

Finance Ledger Assistant - About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Ledger Manager you will provide support to manage all accounting operations as required.

Main responsibilities will include:

* Purchase Ledger activities - processing invoices and supplier payments and reconciling supplier statements.

* Sales Ledger activities - allocating payments and chasing outstanding fees.

* Reconciling bank statements

* Participating in month end and year end tasks as required and ensuring deadlines are met.

* General Journal processing

* Reporting any issues to the Finance Ledger Manager, liaising closely with the Regional Managers and the Financial Controller

* Processing receipts and onto the internal system and resolving queries.

* Process card payments

* Credit card reconciliations

* Complete full bank postings (direct debits) ensuring invoices are requested when needed.

* Complete bank reconciliations including timing differences.

* Petty Cash reconciliations & postings

* Code and enter purchase ledger invoices to WAP/Sage 200

The successful Ledger Assistant will have:

* Previous purchase ledger experience is essential

* Experience of Sage 200 is desirable

* Intermediate user of the Microsoft Office Suite, Excel in particular

* Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.

* Sound written and verbal communication skills

* Team player with a positive, can-do attitude

* Self-starter with the ability to add value

* Confident in nature

* Process driven with the ability to suggest improvements to make efficiencies

* Ability to use initiative.

* Can effectively prioritise workload

* Extremely well organised and works well to tight deadlines
