Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24)
Daily Rate: £90 - £100 (paid via PAYE - no umbrella fees)
Contract Type: Long-term, with potential for a permanent position
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term-time only)
Start Date: Immediate start available

We're partnering with a specialist school in Newark (NG24) that delivers high-quality, structured education to autistic children and young people. The school is committed to creating a calm and supportive setting that fosters self-confidence, communication skills, and independence tailored to each student's needs.

This full-time opportunity is ideal for individuals who understand the challenges and strengths of autistic learners and can adapt to meet their unique educational needs.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Supporting pupils aged 5 to 16 in both 1:1 and small group settings

Assisting with personalised learning plans and helping maintain structured routines

Encouraging communication and engagement through guided activities

Helping pupils with transitions and minimising anxiety throughout the day

Working collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver personalised, engaging lessons

Promoting a calm, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment

We're Looking for Someone With:

Recent experience in a UK school environment

A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)

A solid understanding of autism and how it affects learning and behaviour

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships

A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach to support

Additional Skills That Are a Plus:

Experience supporting non-verbal students or those using AAC tools

Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or sensory regulation strategies
