Main purpose of job

2 or 3 objectives max

  1. Manage the execution of strategic initiatives (i.e. programs) for the Global Rotary Product Line, with a specific emphasis on new product development (NPD).

  2. Program Manager will drive cross functional alignment of all teams to achieve successful program results for the business, specifically for the Global Rotary Product Line.

Accountabilities

As per guidelines

  1. Provide leadership and technical direction to a team for programs with significant business impact.

  2. Drive programs through Howden’s defined NPD Tollgate Process.

  3. Assure development, implementation and maintenance of all process documents identified in the NPD process.

  4. Manage overall/ daily schedules and budgets of the programs, providing status reports to team members, management, and/ or customers as needed/ identified.

  5. Assist with developing the business/ financial case, defining program objectives, identifying resources and prioritizing programs identified by the business.

  6. Support processes to improve the efficiency of all functions involved.

Direct budget:       N/A

Indirect budget:   Overall and program specific NPD budgets for Rotary product line

Other measures:   Program schedule, delivered cost vs. planned/ budgeted cost (unit & program), global NPD bookings

 

Skills, knowledge & behaviors

Essential skills, knowledge & behaviors

Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 years of experience working with multi-disciplined teams in a technical environment

Ability to guide and lead others not in a direct reporting relationship

Strong critical thinking/ problem solving skills

Team player with proven ability to execute on key metrics and effectively lead teams within matrix organizations

Ability to identify the essential from the mass, i.e. vital few

Ability to guide and lead others not in a direct reporting relationship

Fluent in English language - verbal and written

Project / program management experience in a technical / engineering environment is highly desirable

Engineering/technical education is highly desirable

Project / program management experience in a technical / engineering environment is highly desirable

Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams from various businesses / functions               

Well rounded experience - commercial, engineering, quality and operations

Experience with CBS/Lean philosophy - in theory as well as practical use

Domain expertise in related products

Familiarity with Microsoft Project, or other software scheduling/ planning tool
