We are looking to appoint a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant to join a committed team in a Year 2 classroom. This is a class-based role with a particular focus on supporting children with high levels of need, including 1:1 support for multiple pupils throughout the school day.

About the Role:

Position: Teaching Assistant - Year 2 (Class-based with 1:1 support)

Hours: Full-time, term-time only

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, including social, emotional, communication, and learning difficulties. The role will involve a mix of general classroom support and targeted 1:1 work, helping to ensure that all children are engaged, included, and making progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the learning and well-being of pupils within the Year 2 classroom

Provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, adapting strategies as required

Assist with managing behaviour positively and consistently

Work with the class teacher to deliver differentiated activities and interventions

Promote inclusion and independence in a caring and structured environment

Support the development of social and communication skills

Contribute to assessment, observations, and individual learning plans

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children with SEND or high-level additional needs

A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Confidence in managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation

An understanding of the KS1 curriculum and developmental needs of Year 2 pupils

A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or higher preferred)
