About the Role

Long Term Futures are looking to appoint a dedicated and creative English Tutor to join a supportive alternative provision based in central Nottingham. This setting offers a personalised curriculum for students aged 11-16, combining academic and vocational learning.

You will provide 1:1 English tutoring to students who may face barriers to learning, helping them improve literacy skills while supporting their social, emotional and personal development.

This role is ideal if you want to step away from mainstream teaching but still make a real impact. With a 1:1 focus, and a supportive team, you can continue using your skills in a calm, rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tutor English to students on a 1:1 basis within the alternative provision
  • Adapt learning to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Track and assess pupil progress to ensure meaningful development
  • Contribute to the positive and supportive ethos of the provision
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and pastoral staff to give each student the best educational offer

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a relevant degree/qualification in English or a related subject
  • Experience working with students with SEN
  • Strong subject knowledge and ability to adapt delivery to engage learners
  • A calm, patient, and encouraging approach to building positive relationships with students
  • A commitment to supporting the wellbeing and progress of young people

Why Join This Provision?

  • Small, close-knit team that values wellbeing for both staff and students
  • A setting that prioritises individual progress and overall support, not just academic results
  • A consistent opportunity, on a long term to permanent basis
  • Central Nottingham location with accessible transport links
  • Competitive rates of pay and a clear, supportive onboarding process
