A specialist secondary school in Tamworth is seeking a skilled and experienced Maths Teacher to join a team of dedicated professionals. The role involves supporting vulnerable young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them to achieve positive educational outcomes and prepare for adulthood.

The school educates students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with a focus on social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Staff use approaches such as PACE, emotion coaching, and trauma-informed, restorative practices to support holistic progress. The curriculum is broad and bespoke, with a strong emphasis on equity and opportunity.

Essential Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Current DBS

*

Strong subject knowledge in mathematics and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly

*

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

*

Robust safeguarding knowledge

*

Ability to form appropriate, positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries

*

A growth mindset and resilience

*

Adaptability to meet changing pupil needs

*

Effective teamworking skills

*

High emotional awareness and intelligence

Desirable Qualities:

Recent experience teaching in a SEN setting (within the last 3 years)

*

Proven success working with vulnerable young people

*

Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience

Familiarity with the 2014 SEND Code of Practice and EHCP implementation

*

Ability to work independently and take initiative

*

Commitment to self-reflection and professional development

*

Additional qualifications in SEND are advantageous

Responsibilities:

*

Deliver lessons to small groups of pupils with a variety of needs including ASD, ADHD, attachment challenges, and trauma

*

Build strong, empathetic relationships with students

*

Contribute to EHCP meetings and reviews

*

Plan and teach lessons aligned to individual outcomes, including Functional Skills and GCSEs

*

Complete mandatory training (e.g., safeguarding, Prevent, and foundations for safer care) annually

*

Develop positive relationships with families, agencies, and community partners

*

Participate in staff meetings and INSET training

*

Embed spiritual, moral, social, and cultural education throughout the curriculum
