As a Contracts Manager you will take ownership of multiple earthworks and civil engineering projects on a prestigious major energy storage site in the South West. You will work closely with the client and site teams self delivering major primary infrastructure projects across the site including the control works from pre‑start through to completion.

Contracts Manager Key responsibilities

* Lead and coordinate project delivery across projects, managing site and project managers and supervisors.

* Ensure all works are planned, resourced and sequenced to meet programme, budget and quality targets.

* Take responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance, ensuring site teams work in line with company policies and statutory requirements.

* Manage the performance of direct labour and subcontractors, setting clear expectations and monitoring output.

* ​Monitor costs, variations and productivity, working with commercial colleagues to protect margins and identify efficiencies.

* Oversee site documentation, ensuring accurate records, reports and daily paperwork are completed and signed off.

* Support and develop site teams through regular feedback, mentoring and formal reviews.

* Drive continuous improvement, sharing best practice and lessons learned across projects.

Essential Contracts Manager qualities

* Proven experience managing civil engineering, earthworks or groundworks projects, ideally with multiple concurrent sites.

* Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct site teams.

* Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and its application on site.

* Commercial awareness with experience of cost control, variations and working alongside quantity surveyors.

* Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with clients, designers and subcontractors at all levels.

* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Benefits

* Basic salary up to £85,000 plus package.
