About the Company

An established building services contractor is seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Estimator to join their expanding commercial team. The business delivers high-quality projects across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, industrial, healthcare, and public sector environments. They are known for their strong technical capability, collaborative culture, and long-term client relationships.

Role Overview

The Mechanical & Electrical Estimator will play a key role in securing new business and supporting the pre-construction function. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders, ensuring pricing reflects current market conditions and aligns with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed cost estimates for mechanical and electrical packages across a range of projects.
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Carry out take-offs and measure quantities as required.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Evaluate technical information and propose value engineering opportunities.
  • Prepare tender summaries, cost breakdowns, and bid submissions.
  • Attend site visits, client meetings, or pre-tender briefings when required.
  • Work closely with the internal design, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Contribute to improving estimating processes and maintaining pricing databases.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as an M&E Estimator within building services or a similar engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Confident in using estimating software and MS Excel.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
