We are seeking a dedicated Head of Science to lead the department across key stages, fostering a love for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics while promoting innovation, collaboration, and outstanding teaching.

The Role

Lead the Science Department: Oversee the strategic development of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics across Key Stages, driving forward high standards in teaching and learning.

Inspire and develop staff: Support and mentor a talented team of science teachers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and reflective teaching culture.

Champion science across the school: Promote scientific thinking, coordinate enrichment opportunities, and encourage cross-disciplinary links to enhance students' real-world understanding of science.

Deliver excellent teaching: Teach your specialist science subject with energy and expertise, modelling best practice and driving student engagement and achievement.

Monitor and evaluate progress: Use data and assessment to track student outcomes and department performance, implementing strategies to raise achievement and close gaps.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a candidate who:

Holds a Bachelor's degree in a science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related). A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) is essential.

Brings a strong track record of teaching science across key stages, with proven impact on student outcomes.

Has experience in a leadership role or demonstrates clear potential for departmental leadership.

Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire colleagues and students alike.

Is committed to inclusive education and student development, supporting academic growth and personal confidence.
