Technical Manager – Engineering & Manufacturing SectorLocation: On-site | Rotherham

Elevation Recruitment Group is delighted to be working with an evolving and innovative engineering company seeking a Technical Manager to lead it’s Design and Development team. This is a pivotal role with clear potential to progress.

In this role, you will be responsible for the innovation and delivery of technical products from concept through to manufacture, ensuring quality, budget, and timescales are consistently met.

About the RoleAs Technical Manager, you will be responsible for driving the development of new products in line with the company strategy. This will include concept design, innovative thinking, and the management and development of a multi-skilled design team.

You’ll work closely with departments across the business – including Production, Manufacturing, Sales, and Operations – to ensure technical excellence and seamless project delivery.

This role would suit an established manager or someone looking to take a step up, as the leadership skills required can be developed.

? Key Responsibilities
• Drive innovation in both new and existing product development
• Manage project timelines and budgets across all technical workstreams
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Production
• Provide technical support to the Sales team, leveraging product and process knowledge
• Align team objectives with company strategy through close collaboration with Operations
• Ensure design compliance and uphold quality standards across all projects
• Develop and maintain document and drawing control processes, ensuring full compliance
• Lead and mentor the Technical Team, supporting skill development and project delivery
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across design and technical processes

Knowledge & Experience Required

Technical Skills:
• Strong background in mechanical design and development from concept
• Good awareness of integrating equipment into OEM machinery
• Experience of taking products from concept to manufacture
• Knowledge of CNC manufacturing processes to ensure design viability
• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD packages

Leadership & Experience:
• Experience in managing, mentoring, or supporting junior team members would be advantageous (but is not essential and can be developed)
• Proven track record of delivering concept-to-build design projects
• Understanding of relevant compliance and industry standards
• Ability to identify opportunities for product application and development
