Salary: £20.00 - £30.00 per hour
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and experienced Tutor to provide bespoke 1:1 educational provision for a Year 8 young person who was permanently excluded from school in March. The young person is currently not in education and requires alternative provision in the DT5 area.
They are bright and engaging, with a strong interest in football, drawing, art, history, and video games. They have previously responded well to mentoring and benefit from a nurturing, structured, and consistent approach.
As a SEN Tutor, you will:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
- Record student progress and report on this weekly.
- Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
- Record attendance.
- Be organised, dependable and creative.
- Be calm, fair and adaptable.
About you:

- Experience working with young people in UK schools
- Background in SEN education or alternative provision- desirable but not essential
- Confident delivering Maths and English
- Empathetic, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Able to build trusting relationships and foster a love of learning
- Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs

- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
