Our client, a well-established and fast-growing engineering services provider within the utilities sector, is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join their commercial team based in Gloucester.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment during a period of significant business growth. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting project delivery through accurate financial management, analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain accurate financial records across multiple projects

*

Manage client invoicing in line with contract milestones

*

Oversee supplier and subcontractor payments

*

Use Xero for day-to-day accounting, reconciliations, and reporting

*

Track project costs and time using Replicon

*

Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and cost control

*

Collaborate with project managers and quantity surveyors to ensure financial oversight

*

Support month-end and year-end accounts preparation

*

Contribute to ongoing improvements in financial processes and systems

*

Provide ad hoc analysis to support commercial decision-making

Skills and Experience Required:

*

Proven experience in a similar project accounting role

*

Strong forecasting and cost control abilities

*

Proficient in Xero, with working knowledge of Replicon

*

Excellent attention to detail and communication skills

*

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

*

Comfortable interpreting complex financial data and liaising with project teams

Desirable:

*

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

*

Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)

*

Experience within construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors

*

Good understanding of UK financial compliance and regulations
