Jackson Hogg are proudly partnering with a specialist chemical manufacturing business in the Newcastle are on a Senior HSE Manager position, reporting directly to the Site Director.

Managing a HSE Team of x4, the Senior HSE Manager will be responsible for the following:

* Deliver on the sites HSE policy by setting the culture and proactively managing risk and hazards

* Guide the organisation to develop and ensure implementation of HSE policies, procedures, plans and practices in line with the business and regulatory requirements

* Contribute to the development and implementation of Site Improvement Plans, and maintenance of ISO 45001/ISO 14001/ISO 9001.

* Drive continous improvement against SAQ and Corporate Audit standards and targets to achieve year on year growth.

* Member of the Crisis Management Team. Is the focal point between the management and the Incident Response Team

* Be an effective coach for the site by leveraging and extending its HSE knowledge.

* Spend time engaging with employees and act as a role model for ensuring compliance with and commitment to the HSE Policy, Directives, DSEAR, COSHH, NEBOSH, Rules & Procedures (LSRs, LCPs, LOTOTO, CSE, PTW and all aspects of contractor and visitor safety).

* Work actively to identify and implement improvement opportunities using DMAIC and ALPS methodology.

* Attract, lead, coach, appraise and develop employees in line with HR guidelines and HSE operating model, and facilitate talent management process and succession planning.

* Be an influential advisor to line management by building and fostering their deep understanding of the business processes, standards and best practices. This will cover Process Safety Management, People Safety Management (Behaviour Based Safety), Common Platform Objectives and Site Security and Emergency Response standards.

* Define the site processes and procedures related to each of these.

* Coach line management in implementation of these processes and procedures.

* Ensure regulatory compliance within each specialism. Define with the peers the best approach to comply with criteria from the Competent Authorities.

* Contribute to the development of the HSE strategy for design, deployment and delivery of the HSE Policy, Directives, Rules & Procedures and Safety Common Platform for the entity at the next higher level, in order to ensure alignment of objectives

* Drive HAZOP and MOC management and sign off processes and use DMAIC and ALPS approach to drive Continuous Improvement in HSE

* Identify and recommend improved practices to reduce accidents and excel in a robust “near miss” process

* Support accidents investigation, root cause analysis assistance to define and implement corrective actions

Senior HSE Manager Requirements

* Bachelor or masters level qualification in HSE, engineering or related specialism

* Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through

* Experience and confidence in training and coach at all levels of the organization

* Positive influencing: ability to convince others, gain agreement or acceptance of plans, activities and ability to move others willingly towards a desired goal or course of action

* Ability to drive continuous improvement of the processes, policies, standards on site

* Able to work in an inclusive way in the HSE community, and within the Management team and with all on site to make sure the business experiences 'one voice' and the teams collective objectives are met

* Detailed experience from work with management systems such as ISO 14001 or equivelant

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, result oriented, problem solving, ability to think clearly and make good business decisions

* Good verbal and written English language skills

* Relevant experience (minimum 5 years) in different multiple units, disciplines, locations and/or other companies

* Good knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office programs
