The Best Connection are looking for a CNC setter/engineer for a client in Chorley, Lancashire.

Main function is programming and set up CNC milling machines, to complete existing and new product/ samples. This is a hands-on role where you are also operating the CNC machine. Producing machined parts according to established parameters and specifications. Perform inspections and calibration of industrial machines and work areas ready for machine operators to commence work. Working towards standing in for the manager to cover holidays etc.

Day to day responsibilities:

· set up CNC milling machine to complete new product/different functions

· change the tooling of the CNC machine, ability to set lathes an advantage.

· Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometre and vernier calliper.

· Adjust machine control, including part process

· Verify "first piece inspection" using appropriate measuring instruments

· Generally, monitor the work being undertaken and completed, testing and taking agreed critical measurements to identify problems and the need for adjustment etc and to immediately make any adjustments as necessary.

· Varied manual machining and finishing tasks on range of components

Required Skills and Experience:

· To have an engineering background and role with a minimum experience of 2 years operating and setting CNC milling machines, ability to set lathes an advantage.

· Ability to read and interpret component and assembly drawings.

· Have experience inspecting products

· Have experience inspecting production

· Experience with production process evaluation and improvement

· Ideally will have knowledge of machined and fabricated parts

· To have good IT/Computer skills

· Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the company

· Be able to work under their own initiative

· Some supervisor experience would be an advantage.
