Our client, specialist manufacturer with a multi site operation across Oxfordshire, is seeking a hard working and process driven Health and Safety Advisor to join a growing team.
Reporting to the H&S Manager, the role represents a lead member of the team whose purpose is to maintain compliance with H&S legislation across the business and implement measures to ensure a safe working environment.
The role will be varied with a mixture of administrative tasks, on-site staff engagement, technical assessments and strategy meetings. You will interact with contractors / consultants as well as staff from all areas including the offices, laboratory and machine workshops, and must be a confident communicator. You will also use your experience to help supervise and mentor members of the H&S team as well as other members of staff involved in H&S activities.
Health and Safety Advisor key responsibilities:
- Sustain and advocate for exemplary Health and Safety standards within a rapidly evolving business environment
- Cultivate a constructive Health & Safety mindset across the entire workforce
- Partner with operational and engineering teams to comprehend sophisticated processes and establish suitable safety protocols
- Examine and evaluate organizational risk assessments, operational procedures, documentation, safety signage, and policy documents
- Coordinate internal and external compliance audits for monitoring purposes
- Direct incident and near-miss investigations while ensuring the execution of corrective improvement measures
- Drive continuous enhancement initiatives within safety management frameworks
- Prepare comprehensive reports for the board of directors and external auditors
- Provide guidance and oversight to the Health & Safety team and personnel engaged in safety-related activities
Health and Safety Advisor Requirements:
- Candidates should hold NEBOSH National Diploma qualification
- Excellent knowledge of applicable UK safety legislation and general workplace safety requirements is essential.
- Applicants should have extensive previous experience in a H&S role within a manufacturing and/or scientific environment
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Oxfordshire
