The role of Unit Manager exists to provide effective frontline management to a designated unit within the production facility. The key focus of the role is to manufacture product to the highest possible standard of quality, efficiency and with minimal wastage. This is achieved through the effective planning of labour, ensuring availability of material and provision of a safe working environment for all colleagues and visitors.

Key duties of Unit Manager may include:

To ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner in compliance with the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.
To ensure that all Company and customer quality procedures are complied with to deliver the highest possible standard of product to meet our customers' expectations.
To ensure that the highest standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained in the unit and across the whole facility.
To act as the initial point of contact for all issues within the designated unit.
To maintain performance and deliver clear action plans to improve all areas of cost within the unit.
To provide accurate and relevant data to support the performance delivery and effective management.
To manage the skills of all colleagues in the unit and where further training is required, plan and ensure that skills are further developed.
To actively encourage all colleagues to provide solutions to problems and a means of improving the company both to reduce cost and enhance its position in the business environment and local area.
To manage the unit to meet all cost parameters and deliver improvement.
To set the standards of behaviour, work ethic and appearance to all colleagues and visitors.
To actively manage all people issues and challenges using all relevant departments and support staff to correctly manage these situations.
To provide agreed team briefs to all colleagues at agreed times.
To review team performance with each line during shifts to provide relevant information in SIC.

To ensure that the business is correctly appraised of any challenges and successes in the unit.
To ensure that all communication is completed with accurate data, correct facts and is carried out in professional manner.
To aways challenge the status quo to ensure the unit of responsibility is continually striving to be the best it can be.
Together with other peers to ensure that all units always have management cover, and all colleagues are clear about the contact for that shift.
To adhere to all HR policies/procedures and to deal with people issues that may arise in a timely and accurate manner - e.g. Return to Work Reviews, Performance Management etc.
To take an active role in continuously developing your skills and knowledge through self-development activities and/or through attending Company organised training and development opportunities.

Must have experience working within a food manufacturing environment.
