Pastoral Support Worker - Secondary School - Ruislip - April 2026 start - Full-Time

Are you an experienced Pastoral Support Worker or behaviour mentor with a passion for supporting young people in a secondary school setting?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with welcoming and well-regarded secondary schools in Ruislip seeking a Pastoral Support Worker to join their pastoral and safeguarding teams on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a rewarding role at the heart of the school, supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development.

Pastoral Support Worker - Role Overview
As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students across KS3 and KS4, particularly those who require additional emotional, behavioural, or attendance support. Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small group pastoral support for targeted students

Supporting students with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or social difficulties

Building positive, trusting relationships to improve engagement and outcomes

Working closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding leads, SENCOs, and attendance teams

Supporting behaviour management strategies and restorative conversations

Monitoring student progress, wellbeing, and attendance

Liaising with parents/carers regarding student progress and concerns

Supporting reintegration plans and early intervention strategies

Upholding safeguarding responsibilities and following school policies at all times

Requirements

Previous experience working in a secondary school setting (Essential)

Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural, or pastoral needs

Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Calm, patient, and resilient approach

Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds

Excellent communication and record-keeping skills

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
