Reed Education is delighted to be working on behalf of a respected secondary school to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated support for a student with Autistic Spectrum Condition. About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support the student in accessing learning across the curriculum.
- Deliver individual therapy programmes under specialist guidance.
- Assist with social and emotional development, both in class and during unstructured times.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Help implement SEND Code of Practice requirements and promote inclusive practices.
- Monitor progress, keep accurate records, and contribute to reviews and reports.
- Provide specialist support during tests and examinations.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive interaction with peers.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- A good standard of education, including strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience supporting students with autism and/or sensory needs in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of child development and SEND legislation.
- Excellent communication skills and a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
Desirable:
- Experience working with parents and external agencies.
- Ability to deliver small group interventions.
- Strong influencing skills to encourage social interaction and responsibility.
