The Crab House Cafe is a longstanding, award winning, single AA rosette seafood restaurant and oyster farm in Weymouth, Dorset overlooking Chesil Beach. We are family run, with a strong family ethos remaining within our business.

We change our menu twice a day, specialising in seafood, crabs to crack and our oysters are farmed metres from our tables. We believe in sustainability, encouraging diners to try often underutilised fish and promoting the use of the most sustainable methods of fishing throughout our menu. We forage along the coastline and grow a variety of produce in our kitchen garden.

This is an exciting opportunity to become a part of our expanding proactive business. You will be required to work a mixture of day and evening hours including weekends and bank holidays.

You will have Wednesday - Sunday availability, you will work a mixture of split shifts, daytime, evening and weekends.

Are you the right person for us?

A proven history within this role
You will be experienced with a broad variety of fish and passionate about seafood and shellfish

You will need to demonstrate the ability to manage the kitchen, inspire creativity and be highly organised
You must display a passion for utilising the best of local produce, fresh ingredients, and seafood
You will display professionalism, and a positive attitude towards growth and development, as well as delivering and maintaining excellence
You will need a passion for high standards and experience of high volume service
You will be a great communicator and be serious about working in a professional environment

What will your role as a Sous Chef look like?

Controlling and overseeing all food preparation for service
Constructing daily food menu and developing current dishes
Portion control, controlling wastage and delivering consistent quality
Stock management
Completion of company H&S procedures and document auditing
Lead service within a fast-paced and pressured environment and maintain standards at all times
Positively represent the company and demonstrate core values
Planning resources including recruitment, rota and menu changes
Leading the kitchen team to deliver outstanding service and encourage individual development
