About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Children’s Home Manager to lead and manage a high-quality residential service for children and young people aged 8–18. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment that meets all regulatory and safeguarding standards, enabling children to thrive emotionally, socially, and educationally.

As the Registered Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the home’s operations, including leadership of the staff team, regulatory compliance, care planning, safeguarding, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong, compassionate leadership to the staff team, ensuring consistent and therapeutic care practices.
  • Maintain full regulatory compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans that reflect the needs and aspirations of each child.
  • Lead the home to achieve ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted outcomes.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and resources effectively.
  • Ensure safeguarding practices are upheld and concerns are responded to appropriately and swiftly.
  • Foster positive relationships with external agencies, including local authorities, social workers, schools, and health professionals.
  • Oversee recruitment, supervision, performance, and development of the staff team.
  • Be available for the on-call rota and provide out-of-hours support as required.
Requirements:

Essential:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a senior role within a children’s residential setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing inspections and achieving strong Ofsted outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Experience opening or registering new homes.
  • Therapeutic care background or training (e.g., PACE, attachment theory).
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care.
