General Teaching Assistant Required for September 2025!

We are seeking a versatile and dynamic General Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic team at a primary school in Blackburn. This role is incredibly flexible, involving work across different settings and with various responsibilities, including supporting a non-verbal ASD child, working within EYFS, and filling in as needed for absent staff. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with strong ICT skills and a passion for educational development.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Adapt the curriculum and deliver effective group work under the supervision of a teacher, ensuring all students are engaged and learning effectively.
- Spend one day a week working 1:1 with a non-verbal ASD child, applying specialized strategies to support their learning and communication.
- Work two days a week as an EYFS Teaching Assistant, providing support and fostering a nurturing learning environment for early years students.
- Fill in for absent staff as needed, performing duties of a Special Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant, ensuring continuity in student support and classroom management.
- Conduct interventions or work with students who have English as an Additional Language (EAL), tailoring approaches to meet diverse needs.
- Maintain adherence to the school’s processes and policies, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, working collaboratively to support student development.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and ready to take on various roles within the school to meet daily needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong competency in ICT, with the ability to utilize technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience in adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students with different abilities and backgrounds.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing roles and responsibilities within the school setting.
- Proven ability to build positive relationships with both colleagues and parents.
- Previous experience working with ASD children and in an EYFS setting is highly desirable.
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and energetic approach to teaching and supporting children.
