This is a hands-on engineering leadership role within manufacturing, not a purely design or consultancy position.

We are looking for candidates with experience in:

* Manufacturing or production engineering

* Delivering engineered products into production

* Working across design, engineering and shop floor teams

Candidates from pure design, consultancy or analysis-only roles are unlikely to be suitable.

The Opportunity

Broadreach Recruitment is supporting a specialist engineering business in the appointment of a Lead Engineer.

This role sits at the centre of engineering delivery — ensuring that designs can be manufactured efficiently, accurately and on time.

You will lead small project teams and act as the key link between customers, design and production.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading engineering delivery across manufacturing projects

Translating customer requirements into practical manufacturing solutions

Overseeing the full lifecycle:

Concept

Design for manufacture

Tooling

Production readiness

Developing:

Work instructions

SOPs

Manufacturing documentation

Supporting production teams during build and implementation

Driving improvements in:

Quality

Efficiency

Repeatability

Acting as a key point of contact across engineering, production and customer teams

Mentoring junior engineers

What We're Looking For

Essential

* Experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment

* Strong understanding of design for manufacture (DFM)

* Experience delivering engineered products into production

* Ability to lead projects or small teams

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

* Experience in composites manufacturing

* Experience working in:

* Aerospace

* Marine

* Automotive

* Advanced manufacturing environments

* CAD experience

* Able to take ownership and deliver outcomes
