Role Purpose
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy on-site Maintenance team. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment, facilities, and internal customers are fully supported. This includes:
- Performing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across plant and facility equipment
- Responding to reactive maintenance requests and equipment failures
- Supporting continuous improvement across manufacturing operations
- Assisting with projects such as new equipment installations, site upgrades, and sustainability initiatives
You will also contribute to implementing departmental improvements that increase efficiency, flexibility and overall performance.

Maintenance & Breakdown Response
- Diagnose faults and determine root causes of equipment or component breakdowns
- Repair, replace, and test parts to ensure equipment operation
- Complete PPM tasks, including condition-based monitoring, and identify required remedial works
- Provide prompt responses to unplanned breakdowns and emergencies
Technical & Operational Duties
- Use the CMMS system to prioritise tasks and support team discussions
- Maintain tools and equipment to required standards
- Work with PLCs, hydraulic, pneumatic and other specialist manufacturing systems
- Install electrical and/or mechanical plant equipment such as control panels and fixed wiring
- Support facilities maintenance across buildings, roadways, water systems, and communication systems
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and operating documentation
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting requirements
Additional Duties
- Support procurement processes such as sourcing components and raising purchase orders
- Identify process gaps and propose solutions
- Support business needs requiring overtime
- Carry out any reasonable additional duties as required
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE Maths & English Grade 5 (or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent)
Essential Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance engineering role
Essential Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of engineering principles across electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic or water systems
- Ability to interpret wiring, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams
- Broad technical fault-finding abilities
Skills & Competencies
- Patient and diligent problem-solver
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate with ability to log work, communicate with suppliers, and raise purchase orders
Desirable Qualifications
- Completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship
- IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Software or automation training
Desirable Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with CNC machinery, automation, injection moulding, or plating processes
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to site safety and environmental considerations
- Ensure safe working practices are followed by employees, contractors, and visitors
- Properly use all provided safety equipment and follow site procedures
