Assistant Buyer

Location: Rotherham
Salary: Circa £32,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30/5:00pm (flexible working available)
Job Type: Permanent (immediate start available)

The Opportunity:

Adept Resourcing are excited to recruit exclusively on behalf of our long-established manufacturer. They are seeking an experienced Assistant Buyer to join their team in Rotherham. This role offers a great opportunity to be hands-on in the day-to-day purchasing and logistics process while supporting wider operational and administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor stock levels and manage purchasing of raw materials, including imports from China
• Book and track shipments, containers, and delivery schedules
• Produce and manage shipping documentation and liaise with clearing agents
• Maintain and update internal spreadsheets and ERP systems
• Assist with commodity codes, quotas, contracts, and deferment accounts
• Support ERP selection and implementation planning (planned for next year)
• General administrative support including post, calls, and stationery orders
• Collaborate with the finance team to provide cover during holidays or peak workload

What We're Looking For:

• Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or factory purchasing environment
• Confident handling manual stock control and multiple stock counts
• Knowledge of international buying, particularly from China
• Familiar with ERP systems (Opera is an advantage) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
