Brain Injury Support Worker
Location: Cambridge
Hours: 3-hour weekday shift & 3-hour weekend shift.
Pay: £16.20 per hour weekday | £18.20 per hour weekends.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Brain Injury Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and support to our client within a care home, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
About the Client:
Our client is in his 70s with a brain injury, following a scooter accident. As a result, he has weakness to the right arm and leg which affects mobility and suffers with vertigo and mild epilepsy. He also has intermittent hearing loss and suffers with tinnitus.
He has a passion for trains and motorbikes - particularly Harley Davidsons, so shared interests are essential for success in this role and build a strong relationship.
As our client is residing in a Care Home, there is no personal care, moving & handling or clinical duties within this role. You will work with his OT to provide therapeutic support, which may include being trained to give hand massages and spend short shifts focusing on companionship with daily activities including watching TV, reading and walks around the garden, whilst assessing the clients engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional support, therapeutic base interaction and companionship.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in the client's condition.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements:
- Experience in a similar role, preferably with brain injury experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Energetic, upbeat, and empathetic nature.
- Interest in trains and motorbikes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work the specified hours.
