About the Role

We are seeking skilled and motivated Occupational Therapists at PO1, PO2 and PO3 levels to join our Adult Social Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to support adults with physical, sensory, cognitive, psychological, and mental health-related needs, helping people live independently, safely, and with improved wellbeing.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will carry out holistic assessments, plan personalised interventions, and apply your specialist OT knowledge to deliver high-quality, person-centred practice.

Key Responsibilities

PO1 – Occupational Therapist (Newly Qualified / Early Career)


• Complete person-centred functional assessments in line with the Care Act
• Develop short-term treatment plans with clients and carers
• Recognise and raise safeguarding concerns
• Apply the Mental Capacity Act appropriately
• Hold a protected caseload with structured support
• Provide standard OT equipment and demonstrate safe use
• Complete joint visits with housing teams and make recommendations for adaptations
• Participate in training, supervision, and a 12-month development programme
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation

PO2 – Occupational Therapist (Experienced Practitioner)

All PO1 duties plus:
• Manage more complex cases involving risk, limited resources, or multi-agency input
• Provide specialist OT equipment or prescribe complex interventions
• Contribute to safeguarding enquiries with professional analysis and recommendations
• Develop specialist knowledge (e.g., practice education, moving & handling, postural management)
• Support the development of less experienced OTs
• Complete detailed assessments, housing recommendations, and clinical reasoning reports
• Work more independently with effective decision-making

PO3 – Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist

All PO2 duties plus:
• Lead on the most complex and challenging cases
• Coordinate multi-agency work and manage cases with significant risk
• Act as a change agent and build constructive professional partnerships
• Supervise newly qualified OTs, students, apprentices, and assistants
• Lead on specialist areas such as moving & handling, housing, mental health, rehab, or specialist equipment
• Contribute to service development, policies, and research
• Chair meetings where appropriate

Person Specification

Qualifications


• Degree/Diploma/Apprenticeship in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC registration (required)
• Evidence of CPDDesirable: MSc OT, RCOT membership, Practice Educator qualification

Experience


• Experience working with adults with physical disabilities, older people, learning disabilities, dementia, or mental health needs
• Experience completing comprehensive OT assessments (ADLs, cognition, perception, risk)
• Experience in multi-disciplinary working
• Moving & handling experience
• Experience supporting people who require adapted living environments

PO2/PO3:
• Substantial experience managing complex and/or high-risk cases
• Experience delivering training or supervising others (PO3)
