Overview
We're supporting a large-scale NHS-backed digital programme and are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the team on a contract basis.
This role sits at the intersection of architecture, delivery, and hands-on engineering. You'll play a key role in shaping technical direction, unblocking developers, and ensuring scalable, secure solutions across a modern serverless AWS stack.
The Role
You'll act as a technical SME working closely with product, engineering, and wider stakeholders to:
- Assess technical feasibility of new features and initiatives
- Define implementation approaches and architecture
- Provide hands-on support to unblock engineers and drive delivery
- Own and guide technical decision making across the stack
- Collaborate with 3rd parties and navigate typical NHS governance and assurance processes
There's also an element of working within a broader data ecosystem, including a Databricks platform managed by the team.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead on technical architecture and design decisions
- Translate product requirements into scalable, secure solutions
- Support and mentor engineers, removing blockers quickly
- Ensure best practices across serverless architecture and DevOps
- Work within NHS frameworks including:
- Clinical assurance
- Stakeholder engagement
- Managing third-party dependencies
Experience Required
- Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js and React
- Proven background in AWS serverless architecture
- Experience designing and delivering production-grade systems
- Solid understanding of:
- OIDC / federated authentication
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
- Comfortable operating as a technical lead / senior SME
