The Levels School is an independent specialist day school offering high-quality education and exemplary pastoral care to students with dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties. Our teaching and learning provision would also meet the needs of individuals presenting with a similar learning profile to those with dyslexia and other Speech and Language Communication difficulties.

An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist with a passion to support our students. You will be committed to making a positive difference in young people’s lives. We are interested in appointing the right people to complement our staff team.

As an Occupational Therapist at The Levels School, you will be working under the direction of the Head of Therapy, and alongside other Occupational and Speech and Language Therapists, the SENCo and classroom teachers in delivering social skills sessions, direct and indirect therapy.

We are seeking an innovative Occupational Therapist(s) to join our existing dynamic Therapy Team consisting of 2 other Occupational Therapists and 4 Speech and Language Therapists. The successful candidate(s) will need to be motivated and enthusiastic. You will be joining a committed and dedicated team that has high expectations for students and work hard to ensure they achieve their maximum outcomes. You will be an integral member of The Levels School team.

You will need to be a qualified Occupational Therapist ideally with experience of SEND.

As part of your role, you will be responsible for delivering the weekly therapy sessions for children on your caseload, running social skills groups, attending annual reviews, carrying out assessments and writing reports.

The Levels Therapy is the latest addition to the Levels School. The Levels Therapy services aim to provide therapy services across a wide range of therapy disciplines within both an educational and private setting. It is widely acknowledged that SEN support is a growing national requirement for students to achieve their full potential. The Levels Therapy has been established to extend our offering beyond our own students at The Levels School. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be part of the team completing outreach work in local independent schools and FE colleges.

The role of Occupational Therapist is currently offered as either a full-time or part-time, permanent basis. We are looking to appoint a flexible, adaptable, and dedicated individual with experience in working with pupils with SpLD and some SEMH difficulties as a result of their barriers to learning.

Following an induction and training programme, your duties will include:

  • ·Managing your caseload of students in order to deliver the therapy as stipulated in their EHCP’s and consultation documents.

  • ·To carry out an assessment of students attending the school and to implement intervention programmes using knowledge from both theoretical and practical experience.

  • ·To be an integral part of the school team to impart specialist knowledge to support the teaching team
  • Build relationships with all young people, which will encourage their interest and participation in their therapy sessions and lessons

Please note, we reserve the right to close the vacancy once we have sufficiently filled the positions we have.

The Levels School is an equal opportunity employer. We support differences, celebrate diversity, and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all.

The Levels School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of everyone in our care. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references will be sought prior to your employment start date.

It is important that you are ambitious for our pupils and have the desire to problem solve and work as a cog in a small team to unpick the nature of students' SpLD so that strategies can be put in place to allow each pupil to achieve their maximum potential.

Key skills and requirements:

  • ·To be a registered Occupational Therapist with the RCOT and HCPC

  • · Experience and knowledge of dyslexia and co-occurring difficulties and autistic spectrum condition

  • · Have the ability to work as an integral member of a team that puts the pupils learning and well-being at the center
