Overview
Our client is a well-established manufacturer of heavy lifting equipment, delivering engineered solutions into demanding industrial and offshore environments.
They are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician to support workshop-based electrical installation, assembly, testing, and maintenance activities on heavy mechanical and electrical equipment. This role will focus on general electrical work within a controlled workshop environment and will support certified personnel where hazardous-area work is required.
This position is suited to a competent industrial electrician with experience of machinery, control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Assembly (Workshop-Based)
- Install, wire, and terminate motors, control panels, sensors, actuators, and power distribution equipment.
- Carry out electrical assembly work on cranes and heavy lifting equipment under engineering drawings and specifications.
- Support electrical panel build, machine wiring, and loom installation activities.
Testing & Fault Finding
- Carry out electrical testing using standard equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and continuity testers.
- Assist with functional testing, pre-commissioning checks, and fault diagnosis under supervision.
- Rectify electrical faults on machinery and associated systems within the workshop environment.
Maintenance Support
- Support planned and reactive maintenance activities on electrical systems and equipment.
- Replace or repair electrical components such as junction boxes, cabling, lighting, and non-EX field devices.
Safety & Quality
- Work in accordance with company safety procedures, electrical regulations, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate build records, test sheets, and job documentation.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and certified personnel when working on equipment destined for hazardous environments.
Skills & Competencies
- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems and machinery wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Practical, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a workshop-based team.
- Comfortable working to build schedules and production targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
- Proven experience as an industrial or manufacturing electrician.
- Experience working on machinery, plant, or heavy equipment is highly desirable.
