Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in design and leadership?

Do you want to work on complex, high-profile engineering projects that make a real impact? The Opportunity A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team in either Warrington, Preston or Cumbria. This permanent position offers hybrid working and the chance to lead challenging projects within a highly regulated sector.

We would also welcome applications from these industries: defence, oil and gas, energy, process engineering, and manufacturing.

This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Senior Mechanical Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Mechanical Design Lead, Engineering Team Leader, Principal Design Engineer, Mechanical Systems Engineer, Plant Layout Engineer, or Mechanical Project Manager. Your duties and responsibilities will be

Lead and oversee mechanical design activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Manage engineering configuration and maintain design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
Prepare, review, and approve engineering documentation including calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
Identify and manage project risks, ensuring timely communication and resolution of technical issues.You will have the following qualifications and experience
HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in leading engineering teams on complex projects.
Strong knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawing practices.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
