Maintenance Electrician

Location: Newcastle, UK
Salary: £41,000 + shift allowance
Shifts: 4 on, 4 off (2 days, 2 nights, 12-hour shifts)
Holidays: 25 days + 8 bank holidays
Type: Full-Time | Permanent | On-site

We are looking for a proactive and dependable Maintenance Electrician to join our operational team at a mission-critical Data Centre in Newcastle. Working on a 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights), you'll be responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive electrical faults

* Support and maintain critical systems including UPS, LV switchgear, standby generators, and PDUs

* Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs in a safe and timely manner

* Ensure accurate record-keeping through CMMS and compliance with maintenance schedules

* Respond to incidents, assist with investigations, and implement corrective measures

* Work closely with other shift technicians and external contractors

* Maintain compliance with health & safety regulations, method statements, and permits-to-work

Requirements:

* Recognised electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2365/2391 or equivalent)

* 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)

* Experience in a Data Centre, hospital, manufacturing, or critical services environment

* Strong electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills

* Comfortable working 12-hour day and night shifts on a 4 on, 4 off pattern

* Awareness of risk assessments, safety systems, and compliance procedures

Desirable:

* Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and BMS/EMS

* CMMS experience (e.g., Planon, Maximo, etc.)

* HV Authorisation (or working toward it)

* Health & Safety certifications (e.g., IOSH, First Aid, NFPA 70E)
