What you'll do:

As the Business Manager - Corporate and Investment Banking based in London, you will be at the heart of strategic decision-making for the organisation's European banking operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with senior management on business planning activities while acting as a vital liaison between front office teams and support functions. You will oversee complex projects from inception through delivery ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and develop impactful presentations for various audiences. By fostering strong cross-functional relationships across departments such as Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal, and Compliance, you will help resolve operational challenges efficiently. Your ability to manage audits, coordinate governance processes, implement improvements to internal procedures, and maintain accurate policy documentation will be essential for success in this role. Additionally, you will have authority over team management decisions while safeguarding sensitive information related to business initiatives.

  • Support and contribute to strategic and business planning activities for Corporate Banking and Investment Banking divisions by partnering closely with senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure groups to implement strategic initiatives and execute business plans that drive operational excellence across multiple banking sectors.
  • Project manage new initiatives including Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs), ensuring all projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Develop senior management presentations as well as materials for town halls, conferences, and ad-hoc events to communicate key business updates effectively.
  • Lead governance and compliance functions by drafting policies, overseeing regulatory requirements, managing audits, and responding to auditor or regulator requests.
  • Ensure completion of all governance functions such as user system access reviews, contract evaluations, policy documentation updates, and internal controls implementation.
  • Work alongside front office teams and internal partners to address operational issues promptly while supporting the execution of new contracts with vendors and partners.
  • Maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and other corporate governance groups to resolve day-to-day challenges.
  • Coordinate deficiency management processes in partnership with Capital Markets Governance & Control teams to ensure robust controls are maintained throughout the business units.
  • Assign tasks within your span of control as a manager of people; select individuals for hire; assess performance; make compensation decisions; take disciplinary measures up to termination; protect confidentiality of information.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in Capital Markets with at least 5-7 years working within Global Corporate Banking Global Investment Banking environments.
  • University degree in Business Management or equivalent accounting designation (CA/CMA/CGA/CFA/MBA) preferred for advanced understanding of financial products and processes.
  • Proven project management skills enabling you to lead change initiatives effectively across multiple business units.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills allowing you to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues at all levels including senior management and build lasting professional relationships.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication abilities required for preparing presentations and conveying complex information clearly.
  • Advanced proficiency in PC applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking capabilities that enable you to solve problems creatively while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Efficient organisational skills that allow you to respond flexibly to shifting priorities across simultaneous projects without compromising quality or deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter who takes ownership of tasks while remaining accountable within team settings.
