The Best Connection

The Best Connection is currently recruiting for an experienced Tractor Driver with previous irrigation experience to work on a farm‑based assignment. This role combines tractor and machinery operation with hands‑on irrigation responsibilities to support crop production and general farm operations.

• £13.50 - £15.00 per hour, depending on experience

• Execute scheduled irrigation procedures, ensuring crops receive precise and sufficient water volumes
• Operate tractor‑mounted or towed equipment, including water tanks, pumps, pipelines, hose reels, and irrigation booms
• Set up, move, and reposition irrigation pipes, sprinkler systems, and reelers across fields
• Monitor water pressure and flow rates, making adjustments as required
• Maintain accurate records of irrigation activities

• Operate tractors to pull, control, and use farm machinery including trailers, ploughs, sprayers, and irrigation equipment
• Complete daily pre‑start checks and basic maintenance (oil, fuel, hydraulic checks)
• Report damage or major faults to the farm manager promptly
• Support other farming activities such as drilling (planting) and harvesting

• Assist with other farm tasks when irrigation demand is low, including mowing, planting, weeding, fencing, and general maintenance
• Work in a range of environments and weather conditions, including open fields and covered areas

• Driving Licence: Full, clean driving licence (must be able to drive tractors on public roads where required)
• Experience:
  • Proven experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery
  • Previous experience with irrigation systems is essential
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Understanding of soil conditions and appropriate water application methods
• Physical Fitness:
  • Ability to carry out manual handling, including moving heavy irrigation equipment
• Flexibility:
  • Fully flexible with working start and finish times
  • Willing to work up to 6 days out of 7, including weekends if required
• Reliable, hardworking, and capable of working independently
