In January 2024, we acquired the 17th century Barnsley House hotel that is tucked away in the quintessential Cotswold's village of Barnsley, just four miles from Cirencester. THE PIG - and The Village Pub offers guests a classic example of an English country garden that evolves with the seasons including a kitchen garden that will supply the produce found on our 25-mile menu.

We are delighted to announce the start of our recruitment for THE PIG - and The Village Pub and have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy General Manager to join our growing team.

At THE PIG, we offer our guests a daily changing menu which is dedicated to the ingredients grown within our own kitchen garden and fresh produce provided by our local suppliers. As a Deputy General Manager at THE PIG, you will be responsible for encouraging effective communication and organisation across all departments, liaising with the group support functions on all aspects of the hotel operation whilst demonstrating a positive attitude in all that you do. You will be supporting the Hotel Director in all aspects of the daily running of the hotel, providing continuity in their absence.

We require a Deputy General Manager who thrives from working within a team environment but equally happy to work alone to complete all tasks within a consistent and timely manner.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Being present on the floor, working closely with all staff to drive excellent standards across all departments.
  • Encourage training & development, cross-training and employee enrolment on our apprenticeship and development programmes.
  • Thrives from working within a team environment, yet equally happy to work alone to complete all tasks within a consistent and timely manner.
  • Have an analytical view with regards to costs, budgeting, room rates, revenue and property projects and developments.
  • Ownership of all health and safety compliance, including fire prevention.

The ideal applicant will have a minimum of 3 years within a hospitality management role, preferably as a Hotel Deputy General Manager. Experience and knowledge within F&B operations is essential, plus a strong background in rooms, revenue, and reservations. You must have the competency to deliver high-volume operations, being an excellent communicator who's a true custodian of THE PIG, supporting our mission to be the future of caring & considered hospitality.
