Salary: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Negotiator to join our Clients Liability Team. As a Claims Negotiator, you will be responsible for managing an allocated portfolio of claims in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, while ensuring the delivery of service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle liability claims from First Notice of Loss (FNOL) to final settlement, following the processes and procedures outlined in the "Claims-Guiding Principles" document.
  • Proactively drive each case in association with the diary system to achieve the most economical settlement at the earliest practical time.
  • Accurately reserve claims in accordance with the Company's reserving policy of "Ultimate Claims Spend" and regularly review and amend reserves as necessary.
  • Identify and pursue all avenues of recovery.
  • Play an active role in audit functions when directed.
  • Provide appropriate information to internal colleagues in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Appoint panel service providers as needed and contribute to monitoring their performance to ensure the highest possible standards.
  • Keep senior staff informed on individual large losses and claims trends identified.

Key Performance Indicators:

Financial:

  • Accuracy of reserves.
  • Claims lifecycle.

People:

  • All claims handled within Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Levels of complaints received and resolution of complaints.
  • Compliments recorded.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships internally with colleagues and externally with brokers and service providers.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of liability claims handling experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of national claims and insurance market environments.
  • CIP/ACII (or progress towards) certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant law relating to Liability classes.
  • Understanding of principles and practice of insurance.
  • Understanding of underwriting philosophies and policy wordings.
  • Technical knowledge to effectively handle personal injury claims from FNOL to settlement.
  • Ability to monitor and control service providers.
