Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Secondary Autism Specialist School, Dollis Hill Tradewind Recruitment are currently working with a Secondary SEND School in Dollis Hill who specialise in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They are seeking a committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about autism support and eager to make a lasting impact in a school that provides a highly nurturing, structured and personalised learning environment.
Your Role Will Include:

Supporting secondary-aged pupils with autism in both classroom-based and individual learning sessions

Helping students to access the curriculum through adapted learning strategies

Encouraging social communication, independence, and confidence in pupils

Assisting the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons and behaviour support

Promoting a safe, calm, and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience working with children or young people with Autism or complex SEND

A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge of strategies such as visual supports, PECS or Makaton (desirable but not essential)

An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
