Management Accountant

Join our Finance Department in London as a Management Accountant. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work within an international, employee-owned engineering consultancy. You will be instrumental in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, working closely with the Finance Director and mentoring a junior team member.
Day-to-day of the role:
General Responsibilities:
- Work under the guidance of the Finance Director while supporting and mentoring a junior staff member.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with company procedures.
- Build strong internal relationships and maintain professional relationships with external clients.
- Undertake training and development activities as required.
- Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all health & safety policies.
Financial Operations:
- Manage the accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs, supplier statement reconciliations, and cash receipts.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including raising invoices, issuing client invoices, and managing collections.
- Perform account reconciliations and project cost accounting.
- Coordinate statutory accounts for group entities.
- Assist in preparing Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports and maintaining project databases.
Month-End & Reporting:
- Complete month-end close activities including accruals, prepayments, and journals.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and produce balance sheet reconciliations.
- Liaise with auditors and support the annual audit process.
- Ensure accurate completion of all regulatory submissions.
Payroll, Tax & Compliance:
- Assist with payroll submissions and pension processes.
- File HMRC / Customs & Revenue returns and prepare VAT returns.
- Manage cashflow and process Corporation Tax payments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or relevant professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA).
- Proven experience in a Management Accountant role, ideally within a multi-site environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment.
- Integrity and confidentiality when handling financial information.
- Experience mentoring junior staff and identifying process improvements.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint software is desirable.
