School Youth Worker - Full Time

A forward-thinking secondary school in Manchester, Hulme is seeking a committed and compassionate School Youth Worker to join their pastoral support team from September 2025. This is a full-time role designed to support students across the school both in-class and on a 1:1 basis, helping them overcome barriers to learning and promoting their personal and academic development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work with pupils in the classroom to support engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing

* Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to pupils facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges

* Build trusted relationships with students to support their confidence, resilience, and readiness to learn

* Collaborate closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads, and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support

* Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to individual support plans and reviews

Requirements:

* Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or youth work setting

* A strong understanding of the social and emotional barriers affecting secondary-age pupils

* Confident managing behaviour and promoting positive attitudes to learning

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* A proactive, empathetic, and solution-focused approach

* Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, or mental health (desirable but not essential)
