Design EngineerSandy, BedfordshireUp to £45,000 (DOE)We are recruiting for an engineering-driven business specialising in the food, beverage, and pet-food processing sector, delivering end-to-end turnkey machinery systems that cook, cool, and package products across a wide variety of formats. With over 50 years’ experience, they work closely with clients from concept through installation, combining advanced CAD modelling, in-house software, and dedicated product development kitchens to iterate and validate solutions. Their global footprint spans design and manufacturing centres, and they pride ourselves on innovation, quality, and strong client partnerships to help food manufacturers scale efficiently and reliably.What we're looking for:
• We're looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years experience within this sector or area of expertise
• The candidate must have 3D modelling experience (preferably SolidWorks or Inventor knowledge.
• To work within our design team on the comprehensive range of equipment that we manufacture.
• Must be experienced in the use of Autodesk Inventor and be proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
• An engineering background.
• Be able to work on their own or as part of a team and be able to meet deadlines.
• Be able to deal directly with suppliers to obtain prices and delivery times.The following would be advantageous:
• Previous shop floor “hands on” experience; Machining, Welding Fabrication “Time served Apprentice” etc.
• Experience of design work carried out on food machinery and systems.
• A working knowledge of the following, both at user design and calculation levels:- steam systems and energy calculations- fluid systems, pumps and pipe work- pneumatics- stress calculations- sizing of motor/gearboxes for applications- sheet metal development- tolerance of machined partsHours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm on Fridays.Overtime is sometimes available.Holiday: 22 Days, increases to 26 with service years
